Member of Legislative Assembly
The current MLA is Sue Hammell, a member of the New Democratic Party of British Columbia who was first elected in 1991. She has served in a number of cabinet posts, including Minister of Multiculturalism and Immigration (2000-01), Minister Responsible for the Public Service (2000-01), Minister of Women's Equality (1996-99), Minister of Housing, Recreation and Consumer Services (1995-96), and Minister Responsible for Co-operatives (1995-96).
